Oklahoma Softball Earns Thrilling 6-5 Victory Over Florida
Sooners Rally to Keep Title Hopes Alive
NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - No. 1 Oklahoma kept its quest for a fourth consecutive national championship alive on Wednesday with a thrilling 6-5 victory over No. 11 Florida in the Women's College World Series.
The Sooners rallied from three down in the sixth inning to snatch the win from the Gators at Marita Hynes Field. Grace Lyons' two-run double capped Oklahoma's three-run sixth to give the Sooners a 5-4 lead.
Florida tied it in the top of the seventh on Charla Echols' RBI single, but the Sooners answered back in the bottom half. Tiare Jennings lined a one-out double to center field and scored the winning run on Kinzie Hansen's single.
Oklahoma (59-3) advances to the semifinals on Thursday, where it will face the winner of UCLA and Northwestern. Florida (50-13) will play in an elimination game on Friday.
