Map of the First Battle of Bull Run
Reveals Battleground Movements
WASHINGTON -- A new Web map is providing historians, researchers and the public with the most detailed look yet of the movements of Union and Confederate forces at the First Battle of Bull Run.
Reconstructed Battle Details
The map, released by the National Park Service, includes more than 2,500 data points that show the locations of units from both armies from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on July 21, 1861. The battle, also known as the First Battle of Manassas, was the first major battle of the Civil War and ended in a Confederate victory.
